Background

Megan was an All-Big 12 performer at Baylor University from 2008-2012 and competed in the record-setting 2011 Women’s College World Series 3rd place finish. Educationally, Megan earned her Bachelor's degree from Baylor in Speech Communications and Psychology and her Master’s in Sport Pedagogy. From the University of Arkansas, Megan earned her PhD in Health, Sport and Exercise science with a concentration in Recreation and Sport Management in the summer of 2018.

Expertise

Since 2006, Megan has served in a coaching capacity of sorts: camps, clinics, assistant coaching positions, and private lessons. During undergrad, Megan was a summer assistant coach for Mark Grigg’s Wichita Mustangs 18U team out of Wichita, KS. She served as a Baylor Softball instructor for summer, fall, and winter camps in Waco, TX for 7 years. As a PhD student, Megan volunteered two seasons with the University of Arkansas softball program during their program-best super regional appearance in 2018 and also served as an instructor in the summer, fall, and winter camps in Fayetteville, AR.

Relevant Expertise

In addition to coaching and instruction experience, Megan also works as an SEC Network color analyst for the Razorbacks during the regular season. She was an analyst for the Salt Lake City Regional during ESPN’s inaugural 16 regionals site coverage in 2017. Megan also covers Division II and Division III championship games, including the Division III Championships every year since 2014.

Unique Approach

Throughout Megan’s experience and education, she’s honed in on an extremely interactive learning process for student-athletes. For many reasons, positive and mindful coaching within the realm of softball is of high importance to Megan, understanding the psychological and physical effects of the stress and opportunity associated with the game. Coaches have a responsibility to create an environment that fosters learning and growth as an athlete, a softball player, and a young woman. The top priority during any session is building confidence whilst developing physical and mental skills through the game of softball.

I have been coaching softball for over 40 years – high school, ASA/AFA, college and professional ball – and have come across a lot of people and players. Megan Turk will ALWAYS standout both as a player and human being. She brings knowledge, skill and a competitive edge to the game of fastpitch. She knows what it takes not only to win, but to be a WINNER!
